Besides restoring historically significant boats, the Bonaire Maritime Heritage Foundation is active in preserving all types of maritime artifacts. To date, these include ship’s wheels, anchors, wooden pegs and rudders.
Working in cooperation with FuHiKuBo (Fundashon Históriko Kultural Boneriano), the Bonaire Maritime Heritage Foundation has been able to access nautical photos from Archive Bonaire (http://www.archivoboneiru.com/) Some of these have been digitally enhanced, made into photographs, mounted in acid-free matts and placed in museum-quality frames. These photos will be on display in the hold of Stormvogel once the boat becomes a museum. These and other maritime photos have been gathered for display in our Photo Library.
For donating maritime items or photos from the ABC Islands, see our Treasures from the past page.
